Anastasia beverly hills contour kit

Anastasia Beverly hills contour kit

Anastasia Beverly Hills is best known for their brow products. This contour kit will help you sculpt and define your face. This kit contains 6 powders, 3 highlighters and 3 contour shades. Each powder is refillable, so if you use up a certain shade you don’t have to buy a whole new palette. The first shade is Sand, a matte pink toned highlighter which could also be used as a setting powder. Banana is a matte yellow tone highlighter. Vanilla is a shimmer neutral highlighter. Java is the first contour shade a medium bronze toned shade. Fawn a light bronze toned shade. Havana a red bronze toned shade.

How to use the palette.

Eyes; using a contour shade you can define your crease area and use the another shades as eyeshadows. Picking a highlighter shade you can highlight your brow bone and inner corner of your eye.

Cheekbones; using a contour shade to sculpt under your cheekbones, and the highlighter shade on top of them.

Nose; using a contour shade taking it down the sides of the nose to elongate it, and on the tip of the nose to shorten it. Highlighting the centre of the nose to elongate it (I don’t use highlighter down the centre of my face as I have oily t-zone).

Jawline; using contour shade here will make your jawline appear sharper.

What is your favourite contour and highlighter products?

The Princess tag

Princess Tag

Hi there

Today I am going to be doing another youtube tag. This one is called the princess tag, asking what my favourite high end products are from each category, so let’s get started.

Primers; The two primer I have chosen are both from Nars. First is the pore refining primer oil free. This is my every day face primer. Its light weight and doesn’t feel greasy on the face and I do see a difference in my pore size when I apply my foundation. I also use the Nars eyeshadow base primer. I have quite oily eye lids and find this helps keep my eyeshadow from moving or creasing throughout the day. I am also going to add my wish list primers to this question. Laura Mercier secret finish mattifying primer, which I have heard great things about. Where I live we have been having really hot weather and my skin, which is dry/oily has been looking really shiny. So I am hoping when I get my hands on this primer it will help with that. Hourglass veil mineral primer. This primer has been talked about a lot on youtube and I want to see what all the fuss is about. Its supposed to make your foundation water proof if you mix them together.

Foundation; Again I have two (well technically one is a tinted moisturizer). Nars sheer matte foundation. I don’t know why I went so long without trying a Nars foundation because this is amazing. I can’t say enough good things about it. It has great coverage (I am using less concealer) it doesn’t look cakey on the skin and last ages.

Jouer matte moisture tint; this product is not in the picture as I have currently run out of mine. Although this is called a tinted moisturizer I would class it more as a light weight foundation. This gives great coverage and feels like you are wearing nothing on the skin.

Concealer; Bobbi brown creamy concealer and corrector. The corrector, I use this for my under eye area to make me look more awake, this comes in a range of colours with different functions which will not crease on the skin.

The concealer, is great at covering a range of imperfections from spots to redness. The colour range is amazing.

Nars radiant creamy concealer. I currently have the vanilla shade which I use to cover any redness on my skin. I would like to get Chantilly shade to use under my eye area as a highlight.

Powder; Bobbi Brown pressed powder. I use the shade pale yellow which is great at counter acting the redness in my skin. This powder is very finely milled.

Hourglass ambient lighting powder. This is another product which has been talked about on youtube and it’s so worth the hype. Again it is finely milled and blurs out any imperfections but still gives the complexion a dewy look.

Bronzer; Nars laguna, this is such a great bronzer for a variety of skin tones. It doesn’t look muddy on the skin or too orange. I use mine to warm up the skin and sometimes as a contour shade.

Blushers; Nars cream and powder blushers. Nars does an amazing range of cream and powder blushers. My favourites are penny lane, a cream blush that is so easy to blend and looks great on my skin tone. And deep throat a pink shade with a tiny bit of gold shimmer which gives a little flush of colour to the cheeks.

Illamasqua cream blush in rude, this is a peach coloured cream blush which gives a nice bit of colour to the cheeks. I only have one blusher from Illamasqua but if this is anything to go by the other blushers they have must be amazing.

Hourglass ambient lighting blusher. I have the colour mood exposure which is a mauve coloured blusher. Like the powder this give a hint of colour with a bit of highlighting as a added bonus.

Highlighter; Jouer highlighter in champagne. This is a cream highlighter with a neutral base. Having that neutral base means it will look great on all most any skin tone. I only have this one highlighter at the moment but would like to try Kevyn Aucoin highlighter, and I am currently waiting for my contour kit (which includes highlighter) from Anastasia Beverly hills.

Eyeshadows; Well there are so many but my favourite brands are Mac, Nars and Bobbi Brown. The eyeshadows that I chose to show in the picture are, A Mac palette I made up. Mac has so many great eyeshadows to suit everybody and you can make your own palette to suit you. Nars Narsissist palette. This was limited addition and is no longer available but most of the shades are in the permanent collection in singles or duos.

Bobbi Brown nude on nude palette,  is part of the nude on nude collection. I wrote a whole blog post on this palette so check that out.

Contour; Illamasqua cream pigment in hollow. This is a perfect contour shade for my skin tone. It’s so easy to blend and can be used in the hollows of the cheek, down the nose and along the jawline. I have a wish list here too. Nars contour blush in Olympia, Nars products are one of my favourite so I’ll have to give this little palette a go. Kevyn Aucoin creamy glow duo sculpting/candlelight. This little palette combines Kevyn Aucoin bestselling sculpting powder and candlelight highlighting powder in a duo cream formula.

Anastasia Beverly hills contour kit. This is on its way to me as we speak. It contains a setting powder, two highlighting powders and three contour colours.

Eyeliner; Eyeko eye do liquid liner. This is a felt tip pencil liner which was designed for Eyeko by Alexa Chung. Alexa’s eyeliner always looks perfect and this liner helps a great deal on getting anyone to be able to achieve that look.

Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner stylo. I was so glad to see Bobbi brown brought out a gel liner in a pencil form. I wasn’t a fan of gel liner in those little pots but this is so much better. If you found it difficult to use gel liner or like me just didn’t like the pots give this a go.

Mascara; Eyeko eye do mascara. This is a great mascara with a bristle brush which has different lengths to coat all lashes. This is a water resistant formula for volume as well as length. Again this was also designed by Alexa Chung. Bobbi Brown smokey eye mascara. For volume and definition this is a great water resistant real bristle brush mascara.

Lipliner; Lipstick queen invisible Lipliner. This is a great liner, it has no colour so can be used with any lip colour, preventing bleeding and smudging of lip colour.

Lipsticks; again so many to choose from, here is just a few. Nars catfight, this is a great everyday shade and Nars makes amazing range of colours with great pigment and formula. Chanel caratere a great plum shade. Mac brave, Mac must have a lipstick in every colour. Bobbi brown tulle. Bobbi brown has great formula with lipstick and I would love to own their lipstick palette. Lipstick queen pink sinner. Lipstick queen has a sinner and saint range sinner is more pigment and saint is sheer.

Lipgloss; Beaute does so many great lip products from their weightless lip crème to their satins. Their lipglosses are non-sticky and are a celebrity favourite.

Brow products; Anastasia Beverly hills are best known for their brow products, I use their brow wiz, tinted brow gel and brow powder. Each of these products makes my brow go from invisible nothingness to full on amazing.

Miscellaneous; This category I pick Chanel perfume. I love Chanel Chance au fraise. A fresh sweet scent which is amazing.

Nails; This year I have really gotten into nail polish in a big way so this was another hard category. Illamasqua do some unique polishes, I really like facet. Opi have so many amazing polishes and are so well known for their collections. Butter London have great polishes with funny names. Zoya is becoming my favourite brand of nail polish. I am obsessed with their pixie dusts. Deborah Lippmann does amazing glitter polish.

Well that was a long post. What are some of your high end beauty favourites?

Peach Perfection

Peach Perfection

Hi There

Today I am continuing with my nail polish collection posts by colour. Today I am Talking about Peach. Peach nail polishes are so diverse, its goes from Brights to neutrals which means you can wear a peach colour all year round.

Essie Haute as hello; this is a bright peach cream polish, which came out in the summer 2010 collection. Unfortunately this isn’t the best formula, it’s a bit streaky but will sort itself out with 2 coats. I get my Essie polishes from Beauty Express which is a lot cheaper than salons and Boots.

Essie a crewed interest; a neutral peach/pink cream which came out in the winter 2009 collection. This is a better formula, again I used 2 coats on the swatch to get it opaque. This would make a great work appropriate polish.

Essie tart deco; a bright peach cream (very similar to haute as hello). This is the best formula of the Essie’s in this post. It’s a great summer bright polish on its own, or with a gold glitter French tip.

New black peach; another neutral peach cream polish. This is part of a 5 piece set called advanced ombre cloudy ballet. New black has some great nail polish sets, they are available on Space NK. I wore this polish with China Glaze’s luxe and lush, a clear base holographic glitter.

Revlon apricot nectar; a bright peach/orange cream polish, part of the parfumerie line. This polish is scented with a sweet floral/fruit scent that lasts on your nails for ages. This polish can be wore without a top coat to make the smell last ever longer.

Zoya Wendy; a bright peachy/coral cream polish from the recent tickle collection. This is a really bright polish but I wouldn’t class it as a neon. The tickle collection had 6 polishes which could be used alongside the bubbly collection which are glitter polishes.

Ciate ivory queen; a light peach neutral cream polish with a fine gold shimmer. This is a mini polish which came in the mini mani advent calendar last year. This is a great work appropriate polish. You could wear this on its own, I wore it with an accent nail of Ciate metallic gold caviar pearls.

Well that’s all my peach polishes, look out for yellow polishes next.
